I remember the first time I played Power Drift in MAME, and I recognized the music from a fangame but wasn't sure what. Now that I go back to expand my gaming horizons, I run into this stuff all the time where I recognize music from a fangame and not the other way around. I played lots of fangames as a kid, and they often used music ripped from other games. I burned a copy of that game to try it and ran into the music and thought "Holy crap, that's from Shadow Returns!" Funny that this one actually came to mind a few weeks ago, because it turns out the title screen music is from Jaguar XJ220 on the Sega CD. Mobius the Next Revolution: Shadow Returns. Update: Here's one of those SV2 titles that I was fond of back in the day. However, I have a ton of games that were made on the SV2 engine if that's what you're meaning by SV2 titles. That's the only thing I have by you other than that randomly-discovered demo I posted earlier, and SV1 which is on SFGHQ. I managed to trigger one where I hit spikes and got stuck in a loop where it infinitely made the dead Sonic object. I just played it while it was uploading, and y'know, Dawn Hill is nice and doesn't look too bad even now. (Only exception being some stuff that was hit by a virus in 2003, but most of the files cleaned up well) I have everything I downloaded from the very first day I went online. I do have stuff! A lucky benefit of the fact that I never delete anything. I have a couple screenshots I took back then, but don't have the beta any more because it got infected with a virus. do you remember anything about it?ĮDIT: General question: Does anyone remember an early 3D fangame called Sonic Fusion? It was being done in Darkbasic, I think. I think it's yours judging on the similarities between the two. I had no idea what this was, but I liked the music so I kept it. About 8 years ago when I was immature and obsessed with fangames, I was poking around what must have been your webspace and found this exe: (Yes, this made me dig it out of my backups) It looks an awful lot like that screenshot you posted. :PĪlso, that screenshot looks amazingly familiar, but for a weird reason. I swear, for a few years we had nothing but games based on it. and your releasing of its engine was both a blessing and a curse to the community. I remember downloading it the day it came out! I also remember being sad that SV2 never was finished. Definitely keep a backup be safe.Click to expand.SV was the bomb. You can still transfer your old save file just by copying and pasting it inside the game's folder. The former incomplete Act 2 Stages remain unfinished More performance improvements and stuff Backgrounds for some stages have been changed/replaced with newer and better ones A pseudo 3D Water Surface has been added to provide better visual depth Main Menu background now displays both playable characters Both Characters have been given cooler animations Aqua (Bubble) Shield can bounce on the water's surface You can Wall Jump downwards by holding down on the Control Stick/Arrow Key and pressing the Jump Button Each Action Stage has been revised to provide better flow and a more engaging gameplay experience I've also got no plans for future updates but, as with anything, that can eventually change. However, this update boasts significant improvements in level design and little things that I felt the need to rework. There's not much in the way of 'new' additions, this time around. Yo, we're back again with another update!
